This site contains extracts from this book by Colin W. Richardson: A phenomenal talent - The life and paintings of Edward H. Thompson. 1988.

When Colin W. Richardson first encountered the paintings of the Cumbrian artist Edward Thompson he could not find any biographical information on the work or the life of the artist. So he ended up compiling a book using recollections from Thompson's family, friends and anyone who owned a Thompson painting.

The book was printed privately with a limited print run of 1,000 and is now sadly out of print.
