Edward H. ThompsonCumbrian artist, painter and phenomenal talent. 1879-1949 |

| When Colin W. Richardson first encountered the paintings of the Cumbrian artist Edward Thompson he could not find any biographical information on the work or the life of the artist. So he ended up compiling a book using recollections from Thompson's family, friends and anyone who owned a Thompson painting. The book was printed privately with a limited print run of 1,000 and is now sadly out of print. This site contains extracts from this book by Colin W. Richardson: A phenomenal talent - The life and paintings of Edward H. Thompson. 1988.

A watercolour snow scene of Skiddaw, by West Cumbrian artist Edward H Thompson, attracted much attention from buyers at a recent fine art sale at Mitchell's, Cockermouth. The painting, which went for £2,100, was one of 10 watercolours by the West Cumbrian artist in the sale. Another landscape, a lake scene of Derwentwater, fetched £1,600. Edward H Thompson grew up in Workington and painted many scenes from around the northern lakes. |
